Centrifuge Game

Centrifugal separation made interactive

Urenco is a large organization based in Almelo that produces enriched uranium using ultracentrifuge technology. With a 29% market share, Urenco is the largest provider of slightly enriched uranium.

As Urenco frequently hosts tours for schoolchildren, they asked us to develop a physical, interactive game to help explain the enrichment process. To this end, we created the "Centrifuge Game," which includes both software and a physical console equipped with interactive buttons. We designed an accessible, easy-to-understand game to explain the principle of centrifugal separation used in the enrichment of materials.

Throughout the game, Richie (Urenco's mascot) guides players through the enrichment process and explains the various applications for the enriched materials. Upon achieving a high score, the game displays photos of the players that were taken while they were playing. A second version of the Centrifuge Game can be found at Urenco's facility in Gronau, Germany.
