Social Robot ("Ome Tomos")
Interactive robot, exhibited at Concordia, Enschede
Concordia wants to make art self-evident. Not only within its own walls, but also, or even especially, outside. This robot brings art and culture closer to the public, even literally in the middle of the street. Where art may seem too serious or pompous to some, this robot shows that this does not have to be the case at all.
The robot was created by 100%FAT, in collaboration with Jelle de Graaf, who designed and realized the 'outer shell' of the robot. The whole thing is a combination of electronics and mechanics; the robot contains multiple sensors (pressure sensor, rotation sensor, depth camera) with which it is aware of the bystanders. The software ensures that a relevant dialogue is created with passers-by, with the aim of inviting them to enter Concordia.
